Why were North and South Carolina founded? Please don't copy and paste your answer from google, I'm just a little confused on the answer.

So North and South Carolina were founded because think back to the Thirteen Colonies the British had took over right? So at that time there were royals and some owned states and properties. A King had owned the state at the time but gave it to the colonists. Does that make sense? So they were given the land after their proposal.

all i know is that south Carolina was founded in 1663 when king Charles the 2nd gave the land to eight noble men known as the proprietors
