The Industrial Revolution caused many new factories to be built, which tended to be more profitable for people who couldn't afford to purchase farmland. The businesses and factories behind the industrial revolution were located in the nation’s towns and cities; as such, many American peoples migrated there to take advantage of the upsurge in jobs.
